A Jungle Party?

That’s right… there’s a jungle party a gwaan this evening at Liars Club featuring Murderbot, Mega Mic, Abducted, Hess and myself. It has been a while since I have played a jungle set, so I’m quite excited. It is nice not to have to bring the laptop out to a gig and instead bust out the jungle wax.

Party starts at 10pm and goes until 2am with no cover all night. 1665 W. Fullerton Ave.

This month’s Glitter is going to be one of the best yet. I’m excited to announce that we have Gant Gerrard aka The Gant-Man, Million $ Mano, and John Simmons joining myself on the decks. All Disco from all styles and eras all night long. It is also CT’s birthday as well as our girl Feli Fury!

Their 2009 album, “Rules” has quickly become one of my favorite albums of all time. This group from Berlin is compromised of some damn fine musicians which include Erlend Øye on guitar and vocals, Marcin Oz on Bass, Sebastian Maschat on Drums, and Daniel Nentwig on Rhodes piano and Crumar synthesizer. I love the simplicity of the entire album which in no way takes from the impact that it makes. Not to mention that the majority of the tunes have a minimal disco feel to them.

This is one of my favorite tracks off of the album and also the track that I first found when I learned about the group. I think you will enjoy it just as much as I have.

Feel

I drew inspiration from this track from an old jungle tune that used the Case vocal from the track “Touch Me Tease Me” that he performed with Foxy Brown. The bassline was taken from the Don Julian track Janitzio which has been used in some 90′s hip hop tunes. Last I have sprinkles of an old War tune throughout to give it a little more flavor and that leaves us with a chill house cut.

This is one of The Gap Band’s biggest hits and was written by Raymond Calhoun and released on the album, “Gap Band IV”. Countless hip hop, R&B, and Dance Music artists have sampled the tune and it is easy to hear why. It pretty much makes you feel good no matter what type of mood that you are in. This has easily become one of the greatest hits at our Syrup night at Butterfly Social Club (Every 3rd Tuesday).

What am I Supposed to do?

Last week Fool’s Gold put this track up on their blog to give away in light of Treasure Finger’s tour. It samples the classic hit “Somebody Else’s Guy” by Jocelyn Brown. He did a great rework with the sample and made this a French House banger! I believe it has the potential to be the “aNYway” of 2010.

The 3rd installment of the “Do it To it” series put out by Burlesque of North America was released for SXSW this year and has been getting some amazing feedback from people. This year the comp went onto cd allowing for more tracks to be released. In all, 17 tracks were put on the cd from some of the nicest artists in the game, including a house track from myself that you can listen to / download below.

Glitter 2

Tomorrow night is the anniversary party for my lovely wife Edie and I. Last year we were married at Le Passage on Saturday, March 21st and now we are having our one year celebration party at Glitter. Joining me on the decks is Tim Zawada, Scotty Brandon, and the Whitelabel Djs (Sadie & Madrid)

The event will be held at Le Passage and starts at 10pm with a complementary champagne reception until 11pm. The event will go until 4am.
